A just and inclusive climate transition
An Investment Stewardship Perspective
Achieving net zero objectives will require significant and near-term structural changes to our energy systems and economies. At the centre of this transition are people whose livelihoods stand to be affected by this momentous shift. For a global climate response to be effective, it must be inclusive and leave no one behind.
The purpose of this paper is threefold:
- To provide a human-centric perspective on the climate transition, examining the impact on various stakeholder groups
- To provide a blueprint for both companies and investors to better assess the risks and opportunities posed from the just transition, allowing for the incorporation of these considerations as objectives within their climate strategy
- To guide investors to engage with stakeholders who have an instrumental role to play in fostering an inclusive transition
